HELENA – Many people might not know their insurance policies often cover losses indirectly related to wildfires.
That’s according to Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Matt Rosendale.
According to his office, many policies cover damage from smoke or fire retardant.
They say your coverage may also reimburse expenses from when you’re evacuated.
Evacuees should save receipts and track their expenses.
When evacuees are allowed back to their property, they should take pictures and document any damage before beginning clean up.
Anyone who has questions about their police or problems with their insurance should contact the Commissioner’s office.
